Description: The Southland Conference, based in suburban north Dallas and serving twelve NCAA Division I
member institutions in Texas and Louisiana, seeks a qualified and enthusiastic individual for the Senior Associate
Commissioner of Business Operations position.
Under the direction of the Commissioner, the Senior Associate Commissioner of Business Operations shall be
responsible for managing the Conference’s financial operations and transitioning them from a historically reactive
function to a proactive unit designed to enhance the strategic objectives of the Conference and its Member
Institutions. The individual will oversee and lead the Southland Conference’s financial strategy and planning
initiatives to elevate the Conference, its membership, and the student-athlete experience for all conference events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and facilitate all financial activities and business affairs for the conference, including managing
the Conference’s annual operating budget, revenue forecasting, accounting, auditing, and reporting. - Responsible for developing and overseeing organizational policies, financial controls, and processes.
- Generate and present financial reports to the SLC Board of Directors, Budget and Finance Committee,
Advisory Council, and Conference members, including Conference revenue distribution plans. - Manage financial transactions including but not limited to payroll, Conference investments, bank and
corporate credit card accounts, employee expense reports, and month-end closing. - Prepare, forecast, and disseminate monthly budget reports to all departments for championships/events,
when applicable. - Maintain depreciation and fixed assets schedules.
- Oversight and management of all conference insurance and employee benefits, including health insurance.
- Manage technology office systems and acquisitions.
- Ensure annual calendaring and meeting of deadlines for all business and financial operations.
- Liaison to member business managers.
- Engage with Business Operations counterparts in the NCAA and other conferences to exchange relevant
information and ideas. - Maintain accurate records and work closely with auditors during the audit process and tax return
preparation. - Oversee financial accounting for Southland Conference Championships.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure all fiscal activities comply with federal, state, Southland Conference Operating Code, and NCAA bylaws.

- A thorough understanding of NCAA Division I Distributions and Conference regulations and experience
with Sage Intacct, Excel, and general Microsoft Office platforms are required. - Able to lead and facilitate group meetings.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s or advanced/professional degree(s) preferred.
- Experience in collegiate athletics or a related field is required, and proficiency in accounting/financial
management or a related field is preferred.
